8 Tips for COVID Lockdown

8 Tips for COVID Lockdown

With a large part of our client base located in NSW and VIC (yes, we are rather envious of those located in QLD), we’ve compiled a list of 8 things you can be doing during while we are all in lockdown to set up the coming year for success.

Tip 1: Mindset

Accept the situation and get on with it. We are all in this together, facing the same constraints. You don’t have to learn a new language or launch a new website – surviving this time with a positive mindset is more than enough.

Tip 2: Finalise 2021

Finalise your figures for 2021, get your tax return completed – maybe you’ve got a refund owing, and even if it does result in a payment, you don’t have to pay it yet anyway. Usually there are a few loose ends that drag out – use the additional time that you may have now to wrap these up early so that it doesn’t take up any of your time when business bounces back to being busy again.

Tip 3: Plan

Update your plans for life after lockdown because we will come out of this. How will you be best positioned to take advantage of this? Is there some business housekeeping that you’ve been putting off that uses low brain capacity that can be done while you are seeing out this time at home?

Tip 4: CRM Update

Ensure that your CRM is up to date with correct details for your Customers, Prospects, Referrers and People of Influence. Keeping the communication up post lockdown will be vital. Make sure you’ve got all the current details of your key contacts loaded in a system that’s easy to tell the world that you are open for business, and have a cracking deal to come out firing.

Tip 5: Online Rejuvenation

Refresh the online presence of your business – this includes your website, social media, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube. Over 2 billion logged-in users visit YouTube each month – and some of these could well be your next customer. Every day people watch over a billion hours of video and generate billions of views. More than 70% of YouTube watch time comes from mobile devices. Your phone is more than capable of taking a YouTube quality video, why not give it a go?

Tip 6: Communicate

Have a conversation with your team, your suppliers, your accountant, your partner, your parents, your kids, your dog/cat – make sure you speak with someone every day. Check in on them, and you’ll find that it’s also good for you.

Tip 7: Build Capacity

Build capacity in your business to handle the growth that is coming. What are the things you need to put in place to grow on the other side of this? Do you need to build out some systems or better ways of delivering your product/service? When was the last time you reviewed your customer experience? Is now the time to review your Job Ads so that you are ready to hire as soon as lockdown restrictions are eased?

Tip 8: Annual Reviews

We all know that we should probably be doing this every year, but generally we get too busy for it. If you find additional time on your hands, consider reviewing:

  • Cyber-security and risk management plans.
  • Insurances. If you are not sure what insurances your business should have, you can check out our separate blog on this.
