CASE STUDY
Editor Group
Sector: Professional Services
Size: Medium
Location: Sydney/United States/Singapore
Service: Outsourced Accounts
Editor Group was founded in 1998 with the mission to do one thing well: words. It provides writing, editing, proofreading and coaching services to companies, government organisations, charities and more in Australia, South-East Asia and the United States – including a large number of household names and blue-chip companies.
What they needed help with
iKeep was introduced to Editor Group by founder and director Grant Butler through Pitcher Partners (as their preferred bookkeeping provider). Editor Group had previously utilised a bookkeeper who came in once a week; due to a change in circumstances, Grant was looking for alternative, more efficient bookkeeping options that gave him better visibility into the business’s financial position.
Editor Group already used Xero for its accounts and had recently migrated to Xero’s project management software WorkflowMax, so was looking for a bookkeeping partner that had a strong Xero understanding and the ability to support both platforms. Grant was also keen to streamline administration for his overseas employees.
iKeep’s solution
iKeep’s Outsourced Accounts package is the perfect option for Editor Group, with iKeep taking on a whole array of accounting tasks for the company including bookkeeping for the local entity, payroll, invoicing and payables.
We also assist in processing payroll and other day-to-day aspects of staff administration in both Singapore and US through leaning on appropriate local software for each jurisdiction.
This solution is not only cheaper than the company’s previous arrangement, but also provides greater flexibility as it means there is someone on call for bookkeeping queries five days a week. Rather than waiting for ‘bookkeeping day’, it’s now ‘bookkeeping day’ whenever it needs to be.
In addition, our daily reconciliation service has been a major benefit to Grant, who can now get a real-time snapshot of Editor Group’s financial position whenever he needs.
Key benefits
- Daily reconciliations enabling real-time visibility of company financial position
- More cost effective than an inhouse bookkeeper with on-call availability five days a week
- Support with payroll and staff administration for overseas employees
